National Rankings Dec. 7th, 2023

With the season fully underway and Ironman this weekend, wanted to get the newest set of rankings out. Lots of fluctuation between weights, along with some notable results around the country.

I’ve added columns for 3 of the other most prominent outlets. Just to give a quick comparison. You can easily see where we all align and where we diverge.

  1. Traditionally, lots of freshmen means lots of fluctuation as you get a little more chaos.
  2. Lots of shuffling, some guys moved up to 113, leaves vacancies.
  3. New Jersey well-represented.
  4. Bachmann over Regan in biggest result of early season.

  1. Kenny the world champ wasn’t at Super 32 but still gets nod. 
  2. Seidel moves up a weight for early season.
  3. Seidel out, Burnett in.
  4. Motyka over Davidheiser in dual.
  5. Cadell Lee in Japan would be 9 or 10.

  1. Isaiah Jones over Chris Kiser biggest result so far.
  2. Seidel slots into top 5.
  3. Botero hurt but shouldn’t be out too long.
  4. PA goes crazy at this weight.

  1. Blaze up at 132 for now.
  2. Forrest Lilledahl Ironman finals round 2?
  3. Moved DeJesus and Nik O’Neill up to 132.
  4. I’d say there’s not a ton separating 6-25. Could be volatile weight all year.

  1. Blaze comes in atop new weight class. 
  2. Huge Ironman finals with Blaze and Davino set up for us.
  3. Mason Gibson back, looks good early.
  4. Parkins took upset loss to Camden Baum at 139. 
  5. Harer over Mutarelli is biggest top 25 head to head to date.

  1. Zepeda out, Bassett in.
  2. Aden Valencia not competing HS for now.
  3. Baum moves in with win over Parkins.
  4. Minnesota all through here.
  5. Just a ton of movement as weights shift.

  1. Zepeda may even end up at 150. For now, we’ll slide him into the top spot here.
  2. Dalton Perry up here for now.
  3. Consiglo over Miller biggest result so far.
  4. Lots of head to heads that line up nicely for now.
  5. Ironman will have huge impact here.

  1. Duke not being at Ironman moves him out for now.
  2. Joy moves up for Ironman.
  3. Mantanona could move up even more. For now, we keep him here.
  4. Toscano likely settles in at 144 but he’s been up here, picked up head to head over Parco right before the season start.
  5. Stein close loss to Evanitsky in recent dual among most notable results so far.

  1. Sealey and Lockett vacate top of weight. Sealey might be for the season with the way that line up is set up.
  2. Evanitsky appears to be here for the long haul. Two losses to Mekhi Neal keep him just out of top 15.
  3. I believe Crawford is only eligible for the post season.
  4. Dailey has way moved up in weight.

  1. This weight just got insane.
  2. My guess is that Lockett finishes at 157 and Ferrari goes back up to 175.
  3. All eyes on this one this weekend.

  1. Ferrari out means everyone moves up one.
  2. Waters over Federici and Kelly over Westpfahl biggest results so far.
  3. 6 of top 10 at Ironman.

  1. Lawrence up a weight class means everyone slides up one spot.
  2. Veazy may be ineligible for the season.
  3. Jake Dailey up from 157 is wild.
  4. Taylor over Dailey in close early season dual.

  1. Cody Merrill might be the best wrestler in the country pound for pound but he just doesn’t compete much.
  2. Coby Merrill up at 285 for now.
  3. Think I’m way off on Will Clark. He might be poised for a big jump after the weekend.

  1. Hopke has been seemingly everywhere – and winning – but Super 32.
  2. Johnson and Mirasola went head to head in one of the biggest matches of the early season. Advantage Mirasola for now.
  3. Neves leads a heavyweight group that includes 10 of the top 25.
  4. Lots of PA here. Which I suppose is true for a lot of weights.
